Dr. Reggie Gaudino is a molecular geneticist serving as inaugural Director of the Cannabis Research Institute at the University of Illinois System's Discovery Partners Institute, established with $7M in state funding in 2024. One of the first African-American molecular biologists to enter a U.S. Ph.D. program (1985).

Formerly President and CSO of Steep Hill Labs, where he developed GenKit — the first commercial cannabis DNA sex and CBD tests. He holds patents on terpene synthase gene profiling and cannabinoid synthase breeding methods, with 534+ citations across 43+ publications.
