About Nekima Levy Armstrong

Nekima Levy Armstrong is a nationally recognized civil rights attorney, activist, and cannabis entrepreneur. She spent 13 years as a law professor at the University of St. Thomas, founded the award-winning Community Justice Project, and served as Minneapolis NAACP president (2015-2016).

She founded Dope Roots while recovering from neurosurgery — a Black woman-owned Minnesota cannabis company specializing in low-dose hemp-derived THC products. She was named Minnesota Attorney of the Year (2014) and chairs the MN State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
